exquisite corpse
OAB Definition
game or process (and the image that results from it) in which images are made by multiple participants who cannot see previous contributions. May also be played with words by following a set of instructions or by each participant seeing only the latest contribution and responding to it.
Developed in the early 20th century by French surrealists from an old parlor game called Consequences. The name “exquisite corpse” comes from a phrase generated by the game: “Le cadavre exquis boira le vin nouveau.” (“The exquisite corpse shall drink the new wine.”) Many variations of the game exist.
