blanket stitch binding
OAB Definition
unsupported, non-adhesive, across-the-spine binding that utilizes a simple blanket stitch.
When quilting, a blanket stitch lines a raw blanket edge or joins two pieces of cloth to form a two-layered blanket. The stitch runs along the cloth edge and then into the cloth, alternating at regular intervals. Blanket stitch binding runs across the spine, attaching sections, then dropping to a second sewing station and returning before moving to the next section, in a similar pattern. Boards are attached to the text-block as part of the sewing procedure through one hole per pair of sewing stations.
