board inset

OAB Definition

textual or visual element applied to a recessed area within a cover or stiff-leaf page. Frequently used on book covers or boxes for titling. Typically, an inset is achieved by removing layers of board to allow a label to sit below the surface as both a means of protection. May also be accomplished through other techniques such as die cutting.
