OAB Definition
typically applies to letterpress printing; localized and/or micro-adjustments made to a matrix or to cylinder, platen, or tympan packing to remedy issues with irregular impression. The adjustments typically consist of torn or cut paper or other thin material being placed under or over a matrix (ie. on the press bed or on the cylinder, platen, or tympan) to increase pressure in an area with lighter or no impression. The term may also refer to the activity of preparing for printing including proofing and other adjustments to pressure, ink, etc.
