yapp style binding

OAB Definition

book structure using a limp material, such as vellum or leather, as a cover that extends beyond the textblock to form a flap which folds down over the head, tail, and/or foredge of a book.

The binding is named after a nineteenth century bookseller, William Yapp, who commissioned them for pocket-sized bibles. Very similar to the circuit binding, which also covers book edges and was used most commonly for devotional books.
