baobei zhuang
OAB Definition
a step in the evolution of Chinese bookbinding between the butterfly binding and the Asian stab binding (Fukuro-toji, Xian zhuang). The Baobei Zhuang is bound with paper twists at the open edge of a stack of double leaves. A cloth or paper cover is then adhered to the front page, spine, and back page, giving the binding its common name: the wrapped-back binding.
